LPN Training–Is It Worth It?
Whether a person desires to work in a busy hospital emergency room or a more relaxed environment such as home health care, becoming a LPN (licensed practical nurse) may be just the career to choose. As the population ages, LPN's are in demand. LPN training can help a person learn how to succeed in this rewarding career.
If a person is interested in becoming a licensed practical nurse, it is important to find a vocational college that offers LPN training. Generally this is a two year program with numerous hours of hands-on training and internships. Internships can be completed at various establishments, such as hospitals, nursing homes and general medicine clinics. Financial aid can also be available at the state and federal level for payment for the classes required for nursing students. In addition to traditional student loans and grants, there may be scholarships or tuition reimbursement available.
The classes a person would need to take to become a LPN may include general college courses, such as math, English, and computer classes. Generally these classes are completed before a person is able to enroll in the specific courses needed for LPN training. After general classes are completed, a person can expect to become enrolled in classes regarding human biology, anatomy, medical terminology, and CPR.
Once a person obtains their LPN degree, they are qualified to work in the health care field. Duties that a person could expect to perform as a LPN include administering shots, performing basic first aid and checking blood pressure. The specific duties that a LPN can or cannot perform can vary from each state.
When a person is deciding what career path to chose, it can be wise to consider becoming a licensed practical nurse. This career is in high demand and is expected to remain a career with high growth potential. There are many job opportunities for LPN's throughout the United States. In addition to the job outlook, this can be a rewarding career choice for many people. Many people have the desire to help others, and nursing offers the opportunity to help other people while getting a good salary and benefits.
