Earn Your LPN Degree Online

There are nursing shortages in nearly every health care facility in the United States. Nursing homes, home care agencies and clinics are also in need of nursing staff. It has never been a better time to train for and earn a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree, and you can do it by attending LPN programs online.

The nursing profession is one of the fasted growing careers in the country, and you can earn your LPN degree by research the many programs available online. You will receive the same intensive training as you would by attending a community college, vocational technical facility or hospital, but you can be flexible and have options that are not otherwise available to traditional in house studying. Students enrolled online receive the same basic courses in chemistry and biology that help prepare them for more advanced studies. Advanced courses include physical education, emergency medical care, anatomy, first aid, food and nutrition, psychological development, child growth and development and supervised clinical patient care.

If you work and still aspire to become part of the LPN profession, studying for your degree online is the way to go. It's a classroom built into your computer in your home. You'll submit assignments, read relevant text, submit papers just like you would if you were physically attending classes. You'll also participate in online lectures, video conferencing, discussion via emails and have the enriching experiences of chatting online with your fellow students. Practical training can be arranged through a local health care facility using guidelines provided by the online program LPN you are enrolled in.

By searching the Internet you will find many colleges and school that offer online LPN degree programs, which are accredited by the state's Board of Nursing. They will provide you with information about programs, fees, financial assistance and details regarding their practical and clinical experience.

In order to meet the requirements for an LPN program, you must have a high school diploma. The program takes approximately one year. Following successful completion LPN programs online, students must take and pass the National Council Licensure Exam, or NCLEX-PN. This is followed by the state licensing exam.

Help yourself help others by earning your LPN degree online.

I am really looking for an LPN class that I can take on line. With traffic in the LA area it is not sometimes possible to make it to class on time with working until 4:30p-5:00p everyday. I would be more than willing to do clinical hours on the weekend. I also have been in the medical field for over 15+ years, with a little over a year and about 6 months in a nursing program that I had to drop out of due to a difficult pregnancy. I am really interested in getting this degree both to further my career at the office that I manage for a group of physicians but to also offer me other avenues should the economy become even tougher than it already is.

Is there any school out there that would accept me? I have looked but haven’t found any but maybe I am not looking at the right locations.

Any help that you can give me would be so appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Julie,

There are a number of schools that offer online LPN courses. Here is one example. It would be best to find one in your area, because like you say, you’ll likely need to have some in-person time to finish your certification. But even if you can’t find a school nearby, you can use online courses to get your classwork out of the way.

    Good luck!
